Parent Experiences

This downloadable document details some of the experiences shared with us by parents interviewed during the course of our research. We hope that the information might be a source of comfort to other parents who have experienced the loss of a baby.

 
  • It may also be useful for relatives, friends and professionals currently supporting bereaved parents through this experience. It seeks to focus primarily on parent experiences of baby-loss, and post-mortem. It does however also include examples of the types of coping mechanisms parents developed after their baby had died.

    It covers accounts from parents who had experienced the loss of a baby through Sudden Infant Death and Stillbirth, Second Trimester Miscarriage and Late Stage Foetal Loss. We understand that parents experience baby loss in many different ways and we are mindful that we can only seek to offer a mere snapshot of these experiences in this report.
